Haisla Tourism - Summer Student Tourism Crew 2010

Kitamaat Village, September 2010   Through the 2010 Canada Summer Jobs program, Kitamaat Village Council was able to offer positions to 3 eligible students.  Canada Summer Jobs is an initiative from the Government of Canada that provides funding to help employers create summer job opportunities for students. It is designed to focus on local priorities, while achieving tangible results for both students and their communities.  This year Miranda Ross, Kyle Amos and Darren Metz were the selected applicants.

During the 2010 summer, the student staff will work hard to ensure that Haisla Tourism maintains a high quality of standards.  Haisla Tourism would like to acknowledge Miranda Ross, Kyle Amos and Darren Metz who have successfully completed the WorldHost Program.  WorldHost is a program that teaches front-line employees important, practical skills and techniques for providing excellent customer service.  Miranda works as a Tourism/Visitor Information Counsellor at the Kitimat Visitor Info Centre.  Kyle & Daren work as Tour guides. A large part of their job is to make sure that visitors feel welcomed into our community.  The crew also participate in different activities throughout the season with other community programs such as the Youth Program and Elder Program.  We would like to wish great success to the Haisla Summer Tourism Crew.
