We are now hiring enthusiastic, reliable, hard-working HAISLA TOUR GUIDES.
Job Overview
•To promote the culture and history of the Haisla First Nation and British Columbia First Nations.;
•To share and demonstrate First Nation cultural history by describing points of interest within Haisla Traditional Territory and advising on the cultural history of the area through song, stories and legends;
•To promote efficient, hospitable, informative and pleasant customer contact;
•To accompany guests on the water in either the 31 ft. ocean-going canoes, Haisla Nation Boat or canoe;
•To accompany guests on the Haisla trail for cultural and natural resources interpretation;
•To teach to the guest about Haisla traditional ecological knowledge (TEK);
•To move equipment, prep. equipment for programs, clean and put equipment away in secure storage after Tour/activity;
•To assist cook and supervisor for preparation of meal, clean Lodge, set up camp and other related task;
•To be the guardian of Haisla Cultural and Natural Resources;
•To help guests live incredible Haisla Experience.
Qualifications
Note: Canoe skills, cultural training and Food Safe procedures training will be available!
•Good customer service skills;
•Willing to speak in front of different size groups;
•Willing to learn and convey Haisla First Nation cultural history;
•Able to work independently and in a team environment;
•Strong work ethic. Showing up to work prepared and on time is mandatory;
•Prepared and willing to work in all weather conditions;
•On water skills in canoes or boat is an asset*;
•Ability or willingness to sing Haisla traditional songs solo is an asset*
•First aid certification is an asset*
•Food Safe certification is an asset*
•The position also requires that all guides be in good physical condition.

Duties & Responsibilities
•To always greet customers with a friendly attitude and answer their questions accurately;
•To give safety orientations to clients;
•To tell Haisla legends on and off the water and represent Haisla Tourism in a positive manner at all times;
•To relay information regarding Haisla culture and history;
•To maintain the cleanliness of the canoe, boat and other facilities;
•To participate in staff meetings, sharing ideas for improved efficiency and productivity;
•To show concern for the guests’ needs, providing assistance with enthusiasm;
•To be in proper uniform with appropriate staff clothing and footwear for the day’s weather conditions;
•To co-operate with all company employees and supervisors;
•To arrive at work on time and when scheduled;
•To work between canoe, boat Lodge, cabin operations and wherever needed;
•To clean and wash equipment on a regular basis as directed;
•To ensure the proper use of equipment to avoid any damage;
•To prepare and serve food when necessary;
•To interact with clients in a professional manner at all times;
•To assist co-workers when and where needed;
•To ensure the safety of customers and guides at all times;
