Events

At different period throughout the year you can participate at many events as Music & Friend festival, Youth Gathering Strenght Canoe Joruney, Gathering of Nation, etc.

Come with us and enjoy our way of life.

Music & Friend
Music & Friends is fast becoming the most popular music festival in the region. There are not many venues in the region that offer the "stage experience" that Music & Friends offers. For 2 full days...enjoy music from all genres! The event utilizes a world-class "Saddle Dome" event tent which shields the musicians and equipment from the elements. The stage as well is world class. We constructed a stage system that is 1200 square feet (main stage) that platforms to a 192 square foot center "catwalk" stage. Audience members can flank the catwalk and center stage.  Sound-wise, the event is driven by a professional sound system and qualified sound technicians in an outdoor setting by the ocean! Check out "Music & Friends" this summer!  >>>more info

Gathering Strength Canoe Journey

This northern traditional journey sees over 60 paddlers from four nations: Tsimshian, Gitxsan, Haisla, and the Nisga'a, the RCMP, and DFO, travel for 14 days from Old Aiyansh on the Nass River to Kitimaat Village on the head of the Douglas channel.

“Canoe journeys are a holistic experience for all involved, whether you are a puller paddling, a community member on shore awaiting the arrival of a family member or friend or a community waiting to host the canoe pullers”, says Paul Mercer, Youth Coordinator for the Nisga’a Lisims Government and one of the journey organizers. “We are ultimately in the hands of the creator guided by the hands of our ancestors and at the mercy of Mother Nature”.

The journey will be stopping and visiting a number of Aboriginal communities along the way. While travelling along the Nass river they will be visiting and enjoying the hospitality of the four Nisga'a Communities of Gitlakdamix, Gitwinksihlkw, Laxgaltsap and Gingolx. Then along the coast line they will be visiting the Tsimshian communities of Lax kw'alaams, Metlakatla BC, Urban Centre of Prince Rupert, Kitkatla, Hartley Bay and arriving in the Haisla community of Kitimaat.  >>>more info
